The company also promises 'a new chapter in tablets' among other reveals for the Berlin expo.
When Lenovo revealed its Moto Z line with Moto Mods, it promised there would be more ways to turn your phone into a multipurpose tool.
It looks the company will share exactly what it has in mind for new modules during Berlin’s IFA event in September. The news comes thanks to a brief promo video Lenovo just posted:
While it’s short on details, the pledge of more Moto Mods is important as Lenovo is putting a lot of energy and resources behind its modular smartphone. The company teased a “HyperCharge” mod for a rapid recharge and a “OneCompute” mod that turned your smartphone into a mini-computer during the Lenovo TechWorld event in June.
In terms of other hardware, the Moto 360 also is due for a refresh, and this would be as good a time as any to show one off if the company is building up a holiday 2016 lineup. As for the tablet tease, this could be another detachable or hybrid concept that’s risen in popularity thanks to the likes of the Surface line and iPad Pro.
Why this matters: Berlin’s IFA conference is usually a time when companies reveal what’s going to lead off their next hardware wave in time for the holiday rush. Lenovo is already selling its newest flagship phone, so it looks to be turning to shore up other elements of its product portfolio.
